Apple Buttermilk Sweet Bread


For  Double Recipe    (Makes 2 loaves)

Ingredients To Be Creamed:

Dry Ingredients:


Apples, Nuts, Zest of Orange:


  1. Generously grease loaf pan(s); set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°.
  3. Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy in texture.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  5. Mix in vanilla.
  6. Mix together dry ingredients in a medium bowl; set aside.
  7. Mix on low speed buttermilk alternately with dry ingredients; scraping sides as needed. Turn mixer up to medium-high and beat until batter is smooth; 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  8. Peel, core, and finely chop apple.
  9. On medium speed add to work bowl and mix in apples, nuts (optional), and zest of orange.
  10. Pour batter into greased loaf pan(s).
  11. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. Bread is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  12. Remove from oven and cool on racks.
  13. Turn out and serve or wrap in foil and refrigerate or freeze.
