Brewed Chai Tea Concentrate (For Making Chai Tea Lattes)

For  Single recipe    (Makes four 1 cup servings)

Optional Red Cayenne Pepper:

Tea Bags:

Brown Sugar and Vanilla:

  1. NOTE: The red cayenne pepper is optional. This will make the mix very spicy! Use only if you like extra heat in your chai concentrate.
  2. Place all ingredients in a medium saucepan.
  3. Bring to a boil. Turn down heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Cool then strain using a fine sieve, coffee filter, or cheesecloth.

If you are on a sugar-free diet, omit the sugar and either use a sugar substitute or no sugar at all.

If you are sensitive to caffeine you can use decaffeinated tea bags for your mix.

Refrigerate unused portions of the chai concentrate, it will keep in a covered container for 1 week.

Note: I freeze 1 cup portions in freezer containers. When I want a cup of chai tea I heat 1 portion on the stove and add steamed milk.
