  1. Melt dark chocolate chips and butter on low heat, stirring constantly.
  2. Pour melted chocolate and butter mixture into mixing bowl.
  3. Add brown sugar, vanilla and mix.
  4. Add eggs and mix.
  5. Mix in dry ingredients, scraping bowl as needed.
  6. Add in 1 bag of baking bits and mix in.
  7. Cover and chill for 1 to 2 hours, or until dough is just firm enough to roll into balls.
  8. Preheat oven to 325° (convection or regular).
  9. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Click here to learn more about how to grease cookie sheets.
  10. Using a spoon, scoop dough from bowl. The dough should be firm enough to handle and roll into dough balls.
  11. Shape dough into to ½-inch balls.
  12. Place balls 3-inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
  13. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cookies should be set on edges, but soft in the center.
  14. Immediately remove from baking sheet and cool on a rack.

Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies.

If dough becomes too soft as you are rolling out cookies, refrigerate for 10 to 15 minutes.

Buy seasonal baking bits for this cookie. For example, M&M makes red and green mini baking bits for the holiday season and Reese's makes mini-Reese Pieces for use in baking.

If you chill the dough for more than an hour, bring to almost room temperature before shaping the dough balls. The dough should be firm enough to roll out dough balls but not so firm that it is a struggle to scoop out the dough.
