Hot Cocoa



  1. Stir together cocoa and sugar in a medium saucepan.
  2. Vigorously whisk in milk by in a slow, steady stream.
  3. On medium heat, stir constantly just until bubbles appear at the sides of the saucepan.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in vanilla.
  6. Pour into a coffee mug.
  7. Top with optional marshmallows.


Note that I am using whole milk. This will produce a richer, creamier cup of hot cocoa. If you do not have whole milk on hand, consider mixing 3 parts 1% or 2% milk with 1 part half and half.
