Steamed Rice



  1. Place rice in a saucepan.
  2. Add water and salt.
  3. Bring water to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat to low.
  5. Cover and simmer rice for 20 minutes.
  6. Serve.


Makes approximately 6 cups of rice.

For a creamier rice add ½ cup extra water.

Note: I use basmati rice because I like the flavor of it and it cooks up without sticking together much. It is more of a long grain rice. There are many varieties of rice to choose from. You may need to try a few before finding the right one for your cooking needs. Follow package instructions for cooking.

Serve steamed rice with Sweet and Sour Meatballs or Chinese Fried Rice.
