Hot Cocoa

Ingredients

Cocoa and Water Mixture:

Milk:

Vanilla:

Instructions

  1. Whisk together cocoa, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  2. Whisk in water.
  3. Stirring constantly bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and continuing to stir, simmer for 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in milk; heat to a simmer (DO NOT boil).
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Stir in vanilla.
  7. Beat with rotary mixer or immersion blender just before serving.
  8. Top with optional whipped cream or marshmallows.

Comments

Makes 4 servings of hot cocoa.

It is best to use whole milk when using hot cocoa. This will produce a richer, creamier cup of hot cocoa.

This is sweet, but not too sweet. If you prefer a slightly bitter cocoa reduce sugar to ¼ cup.
