U.S. Mixed Drink Measurement Notes: 1 Ounce = 2 Tablespoons (30 Milliliters)

Recipe makes one drink.

This drink uses a 3:1 ratio of rye whiskey to amaro.

Amaro is an herb liqueur with an even balance between bitter, sweet, and citrus tastes.

Cinchona an ingredient in some brands of amaro is a tree bark that adds a bitter tannic astringency to amaro.

There are many brands and types of amaro available for purchase. For this drink, it is best to choose a variety on the spice/sweet side of the spectrum, since it is used to add sweetness to offset the bite of the rye and the bitters.
