Fried Green Beans
Ingredients
Steamed Green Beans:
- 2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound fresh green beans, remove ends and cut in half
Salt and Black Pepper:
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Garlic:
- 3 to 4 cloves minced garlic
Instructions

Rinse green beans.
- Remove tips and cut green beans in half.
- Steam the green beans for 6 minutes in a medium saucepan with a steaming basket insert.
- Remove the steaming basket from the saucepan and allow to air dry for several minutes. You can also pat the beans dry on a flour sack towel. DO NOT skip this step as it will help to prevent oil splatters when added to the skillet for frying.
- Heat oil in large skillet on medium-high (cast iron is great for this).
- Add beans to skillet and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook beans for 5 to 10 minutes; tossing occasionally until they are nicely browned.
- Turn the heat down to low.
- Add the minced garlic and toss to incorporate.
- Cook until the garlic is just golden in color; approximately 1 minute.
- Add salt to taste.
- Remove from heat and serve.

Serves 4 adults.Do Ahead Tip: Steam beans 30 minutes to 2 hours before frying. Store in refrigerator until ready to cook.
