Fried Green Beans

Ingredients

Steamed Green Beans:

Salt and Black Pepper:

Garlic:

Instructions

  1. Rinse green beans.
  2. Remove tips and cut green beans in half.
  3. Steam the green beans for 6 minutes in a medium saucepan with a steaming basket insert.
  4. Remove the steaming basket from the saucepan and allow to air dry for several minutes. You can also pat the beans dry on a flour sack towel. DO NOT skip this step as it will help to prevent oil splatters when added to the skillet for frying.
  5. Heat oil in large skillet on medium-high (cast iron is great for this).
  6. Add beans to skillet and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Cook beans for 5 to 10 minutes; tossing occasionally until they are nicely browned.
  8. Turn the heat down to low.
  9. Add the minced garlic and toss to incorporate.
  10. Cook until the garlic is just golden in color; approximately 1 minute.
  11. Add salt to taste.
  12. Remove from heat and serve.

Comments

Serves 4 adults.

Do Ahead Tip: Steam beans 30 minutes to 2 hours before frying. Store in refrigerator until ready to cook.
