Chocolate Sweet Bread

Ingredients

(Makes 1 loaf of Bread)
- Grease 1 standard loaf pan and set aside
Ingredients To Be Creamed:
- ½ cup + 2 tablespoons (1 stick + 2 tablespoons)
- ½ cup white sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
Chocolate:
- 1½-ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate; melted and cooled
Moist Ingredients To Beat In:
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoons vanilla
- ⅛ teaspoon almond extract
Dry Ingredients:
- 1½ cups flour
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
Buttermilk:
Optional Chocolate Chips and Nuts:
- ½ cup dark semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- ¼ cup ground walnuts (optional)
Optional Chocolate Glaze:

- Grease 2 standard loaf pans and set aside
Ingredients To Be Creamed:
- 1¼ cups butter (2½ sticks)
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
Chocolate:
- 3-ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate; melted and cooled
Moist Ingredients To Beat In:
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- ¼ teaspoon almond extract
Dry Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Buttermilk:
Optional Chocolate Chips and Nuts:
- 1 cup dark semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- ½ cup ground walnuts (optional)
Optional Chocolate Glaze:
Instructions

Generously grease standard loaf pan(s); set aside.
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- In a small bowl, melt the chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and repeat the process until the chocolate is completely melted.
- Set the chocolate aside to cool. If you do not have a microwave click here for other options on melting chocolate.
- Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy in texture.
- Mix in melted chocolate.
- Beat in eggs, vanilla, and almond extract.
- Add dry ingredients to work bowl. With mixer on lowest setting, slowly add buttermilk to the work bowl; scraping sides as needed. Turn mixer up to medium-high and beat until batter is smooth; 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- On medium speed mix in optional chocolate chips and optional nuts.
- Pour batter into greased loaf pan(s).
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. Bread is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove from oven.
- Cool on a rack for 30 minutes.
- Turn out.
- If desired, spread optional chocolate glaze over the top of the loaf.
- Allow glaze to set up; 15 to 30 minutes.
- Serve.
